Music was my first love,…

Hi reader!

I have analyzed 10 songs and I will put the results here, hope you enjoy!

I am going to start with one of my faves; the band AC/DC with the song ‘Highway To Hell’. While I was listening to this song, I realized that they write hell down as a good place to be. My question is; why do they think hell is a good place to be? Most people think heaven is a good place, and hell the bad one where you will cause pain. But these rockers can see the positive things in hell. Well, they have some good examples. They say things like no speed limits and stop signs, which maybe explains why the word ‘highway’ is in the title. After listening to this song, you will believe that hell is a good place to be. And maybe for some people, it actually is. Some people are born for rest, peace and silence. But some are not!!! Other human beings perhaps want to have some sensation and tensity, even when they are dead. This band thinks you’ve got this in hell. But at the end of the day, nobody knows if hell and heaven even exists.

Next one! We go from the rockers to the mods; ‘The Who – My Generation’. Not much lyrics in this song, it is a lot of recurrence. But what struck me, was the way he sang. He stuttered a lot! I searched in the lyrics, but that did not make anything clear. So I googled it, and it is because he was stumbling over the words so they said ‘hell with it, it’s gold’ and kept it. And they were right; this song is great!

Another fallen tear for my blog this time is from Guns ’n Roses, named ‘November Rain’. Yeah, now we are talking, right? This song is a classic one, I couldn’t not analyze this one. It has a lot views on YouTube, 425 million. But that’s still half as much as Justin Bieber with his crap ‘Baby’. But I don’t want to talk about that, I would love to analyze this song with the question: ‘Why does he compare his love life with the rain in November?’. He says nothing lasts forever, even cold November rain. In the video of this song, you can see a woman die. I think he is singing this song to her, because when she died, his love for her died, too. Now he feels ‘cold’, just like the rain in November.

Lola, L-O-L-A Lola… This has been stuck in my head since the first time I listened to this. Next song I am going to analyze is from The Kinks, with ‘Lola’. I was wondering what kind of girl Lola was. She must have been a special girl, if you believe this song. I have got an image in my head for her looks. I think she is really tall with long brown hair, a nice pair of heels at her feet, red lipstick on her lips…. BUT, my real question is: Is Lola a transgender? Because they sing that she walks like a man and she have a dark brown voice. AND YES! She is a transgender. They say it in the last sentence. I have been listening to this song for like a month and I have never thought about this! I look really different to this song now that I know this. But I still like it. Shoutout for Yentl. Www.yentlb.wordpress.com. Thanks girl.

Well. I don’t know what it is, but this song is always making me want to cry. This is one of my favorites songs of MJ. Deep, powerfull and so touching.. I am talking about ‘Earth Song’. Esspecially the video clip, with the dead elephant, with the dolphin in a net.. Why can’t the elephant just live his life in peace? Why can’t the dolphin just swim, like he is supposed to? The sentence ‘Look what we’ve done’ touched me the most. Anyway, I was wondering if Michael was singing this song to God. He was a really religious man, wasn’t he? I think he is singing this to God because of the sentence: ‘What about all the peace that you pledge your only son’, reffering to Jesus. This could be true, because his parents were really religious. His mother was Jehova witness (those who knock on your door, you know) and his education must have been religious. So that’s why I think he is singing this to God

Bob Dylan – Like A Rolling Stone. Never heard of this song. Does he really mean stone which is rolling? Or does he mean the band? Well, after I listenend to this song, I understood that he just  means a stone which is rolling. That was an easy one. lol

Another Bob! This time it is Marley. First of all, I love the jamaican accent he has. I hate it that everyone knows him for smoking weed. Yes he did, but he has written some songs which are just amazing. Old Pirates (or Redemption Song), for example. ‘Emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds.’ Isn’t that an amazing qoute? It made me think. They can do, say or teach you anything, but as long as you keep thinking in solutions and in freedom, it will get better. How weird is that. That our brain just has the power to decide how we feel. But I think you need to have a really, really, really optismistic brian to see the positive things in life during slavery. You should not think to much about the subject ‘slavery’. It can drive you crazy. I personally can’t stand that this has happened. But as Marley also said; Some say it is just a part of it, you have to fullfil the book. With this, he refers to the positive and negatives happenings in life. I think Marley had a really positive mind if he could thought about slavery like this. This guy has my respect. When Marley died, music died.

And now, finally, I can talk about what I like the most: The Doors. While I was writing my first essay, about a year ago, my teacher said I had to listen to them. I’m really thankfull that he said this to me. I think The Doors is an awesome band, it has something different. I like the song People Are Strange. They say that people are strange and I think that is true. Some times I see meet people, and then I think: how can you be so normal?  But then in my eyes, being normal is weird. They don’t mean that in this song, but that’s my opinion about weirdness. Next!

Another Brick in The Wall is next for this essay. I think Pink Floyd did a great job by writing this song, but it is the worst song if you don’t want to go to school, if you can’t find energy for school… I feel those kids in the video man… The only part I am going to talk about is part 2. How great would it be if we would not have education. Everyone thinks schools makes your life, but I don’t think so. I think your experience do make your life. In my eyes, you lear a lot by just doing something. And ofcourse you have to think about it, but not like we learn in school. It is a lot of overthinking, in my eyes. If something goes wrong, you do it again, and you will see that the second time you do, it will be beter. I feel like I’m destroying 5 years of my life while doing HAVO. You probaly think now, why you are doing it then? It is because of society. Society wants you to be smart. But this is going nowhere, let’s get back to the song. I think another brick in the wall refers to ‘you’. Just another normal person, because if you see a wall, all the bricks just fall together. There is not one brick that stands out. They show this in their music video. I think all the kids have masks on their faces because then they all look exactly the same, and they also wear uniforms, which make them all look exactly the same. Well, that being said, it is time for the last one.

I, as a diehard AC⚡️DC fan, am going to talk about my jam. Back in Black. I still don’t understand how much his voice could handle(I think it is Brian Johnson who is singing but I’m not sure). This is a really hard song to sing, I think. At the same time, I think his voice is what makes this song awesome. But what else can I say about this song? This song makes me want to fight. Is that weird? It probably is. But they sing things in this song which makes you feel really potent. The mix between those words, those instruments and that voice can make me feel like I can rule this world all by myself. I know it is not true, but I think a band did a really good job if you can make people feel powerful. And then those instrumental break… Great. Just great.
DONE! See you next time.

P.s. Mister Roll, sorry for that one emoji.
